We Wished We Loved You, Rhode Skincare
I have been influenced. But, this time it was very underwhelming. Let me explain. Welcome to our first article of our candid series, where we give you the unfiltered scoop on the hype's around the world. Today’s spotlight? Rhode Skincare.
As per usual, I sit back and observe as these hype products and trends come and go. I'm usually late to the game because I want to see over the test of time if things are a flop or a hit. As the months rolled by, I was still eyeing the products. Then, when they released the Glazing Milk, I was hooked. It was finally a skincare line that I felt was truly hitting all the spots (and pain points). Plus, the campaign imagery and marketing are top tier.
On the first day, my first instinct was that I felt like the products were something I would have used as a teenager. The quality seemed low but I still gave it a try. And, at first, my skin was glowing..but really not for long. It was a sticky feel afterwards and I didn't even notice it hours later. I was at the pool all day so maybe it had something to do with the fact I was sweating and all the product came off. Maybe?
The morning of the second day, I thought to myself, let's give this another try. Same texture, same sticky-feeling, same underwhelm. I wore it all day and didn't really think of it. Until that was the evening, when I washed off my makeup for the day that I noticed two spots of breakouts on my cheeks. Immediately, I stopped using the product and went back to apply my usual evening regimine of products. Phew, back to oil hydration and calming down the skin.
I've since returned the product and since they didn't make me send back the products, I donated them to another friend to see if they work for their skin. The verdict is still out, but I'm curious as to your experience with these products and if you've fallen for the hype as well. DM me to tell me your experience or we can chat about all things beauty products. As you will learn, I used to be a makeup artist for Bobbi Brown cosmetics, and I am a huge lover of skincare so let's do all the product chatting.
